Navani's Notebook
This page contains my lego fan art of Navani's Notebook from The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson. The novels contain official artwork by artists such as Isaac Stewart and Kelley Harris in the form of sketches before some of the chapters. The sketches are meant to be in-world, meaning they are depicting sketches described within the text of the novels, drawn by the character Navani Kholin. In my lego builds and photographs, I have tried to recreate the scenes depicted in these sketches as closely as possible. Since the sketches are in black and white, I have tried to use the color references in the text, but in many cases I had to guess. I may also have missed some color descriptions. As such, not all colors depicted herein are necessarily canon.
In case you'd like to compare, the original art is available on Brandon Sanderson's official site. The artwork from The Way of Kings is located here, the artwork from Words of Radiance is located here, and the artwork from Oathbringer is here.
Spoiler warning: this album has minor spoilers for Oathbringer. If you are not caught up, proceed at your own risk.
You can view the files either through the gallery below or the individual image links just below the gallery. Below that, I have included a discussion of the builds and some of the customization involved, followed by copyright and use information. If you're on mobile, the menus are at the bottom of the page.

About these builds
The airship featured in these builds is based on the Navavi's Notebook page by Kelley Harris (KRHart).
To make the sails, I ironed a sheet of white poly-cotton broadcloth onto a sheet of freezer paper, then cut the pair to exactly 8.5" x 11". That allowed me to print the Knights Radiant design onto the cloth with an inkjet printer, then I removed the freezer paper. Finally I treated the printed white broadcloth and a piece of dark blue broadcloth with a fabric stiffener, and used a Cricut Maker to create precise cuts. I used a small amount of Fray Check to keep the cut edges from fraying.
The custom minifigures were designed by me and printed by BrickSanity. Shallan's hair was painted since that lego element does not come in dark red. The two custom tiles, the nameplate and bumper sticker, were done using waterslide decals.
The dorsal sail created a bit of a problem for photography. I had to position the ship by hanging it from an overhead metal framework using fishing line, and the fishing line is still visible in most of the photos.
